Many have stated that what a PhD in mathematics will look like will change dramatically because of LLMs. I agree.
An extension of this is that the bar for being hired as a Postdoc is also being raised because PIs must decide between spending money on Postdocs or LLM tokens.
It seems like a tough road ahead for PhD programs and the road is even changing underneath their feet!
